Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Sal app and website. By creating an account or using Sal, you agree to them.

What Sal is (and isn't)

Sal is a nutrition tracking and coaching app that uses AI to estimate calories and macros, suggest meals, and encourage healthy habits. Sal is not a medical service. Estimates can be wrong; AI-generated content can be wrong. Always use your own judgment, and consult a healthcare professional before making significant dietary changes — especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant or nursing, or have a history of disordered eating. Sal is not intended for users under 13.

Your account

• You're responsible for the accuracy of what you log and for keeping your sign-in method secure.
• Guest sessions live on your device; create an account to sync across devices and keep your data through reinstalls.
• You may delete your account at any time in Profile — deletion is permanent.

Free trial & subscriptions

• New accounts get a 7-day trial with a daily allowance of AI features (currently 3 uses per day). Non-AI tracking stays free.
• Sal Pro is an auto-renewing subscription — currently $7.99/month or $39.99/year — billed through the App Store or Google Play at the price shown at purchase.
• Subscriptions renew until cancelled in your store account settings, at least 24 hours before the period ends. Refunds are handled by the stores under their policies.
• Prices and the trial allowance may change; changes apply prospectively, never retroactively to a period you've already paid for.

Fair use

Don't abuse the service: no attempting to bypass usage limits or entitlements, no reverse-engineering our API, no automated scraping, and no using Sal to harm yourself or others. We may rate-limit or suspend accounts that abuse the AI systems.

Your content

You own what you log and the photos you take. You grant us the limited license needed to store and process that content to run the service (for example, sending a meal photo to our AI provider to estimate it). See the Privacy Policy for details.

Disclaimers & liability

Sal is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Sal in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes

We may update these terms as Sal evolves; material changes will be noted by the date above. Continuing to use Sal after a change means you accept the updated terms.
